diesters
are manufactured to
extremely high standards. They are highly etherified, with
minimal carboxylic residues. Relative to conventional base
stocks, DIESTERS provide superior performance. They have good
thermal stability, high viscosity index, and good low temperature
fluidity.
DIESTERS can either be made from a dibasic acid and monofunctional alcohols, or from a diol
and fatty acid. As the name implies, these have two
ester groups per molecule which means that the molecular weight
and viscosity will normally be higher than simple esters.
Diesters generally have low pour
points, excellent lubricity and thermal stability and disperse
soot and particles well. The viscosity index is high
although some are lower than simple esters at the same viscosity.
They are also completely biodegradable.
DIOLUBE DIBASIC
DIESTERS
The Diolube line of Dibasic Diesters
is made from adipic acid and different
oxo alcohols. These are excellent for low temperature
applications, with pour points below -60°C, and are available
at viscosities between 7.5 and 31 centistokes at 40°C.
The higher molecular weight versions can be used over a particularly
wide range of temperatures. They are clean burning and
do not contribute to varnish and other residues, so are appropriate
for engine oils, high temperature chain oils and compressor
lubricants. Adipate esters
are also excellent plasticizers for PVC when health concerns
rule out phthalate esters.

SAFETY
Diolube Dibasic Diesters
do not require special handling. Handle in accordance with
good industrial hygiene and safety practices. Avoid eye contact
by wearing personal protective equipment. If eye contact occurs,
wash with flowing water and contact physician. Avoid repeated
or prolonged skin contact. Avoid breathing vapors by providing adequate ventilation. Always refer to
the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information
on safety.
STORAGE & HANDLING
Diolube Diesters have an
almost unlimited shelf life when properly stored in closed
containers. Always refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet
(MSDS) for detailed information on handling and disposal.
PACKAGING
Diolube Diesters are available
in bulk, tank trucks or rail cars.
